me likes bubbles

When I was a child, there had been a serie of tutorials on TV aiming to inspire people to save their old/unnecessary things, and convert them into something useful. For example, some clever women were showing how they didn't throw away their old socks and made one pair out of two old pairs (you can imagine now how inspiring they were...). Those were the times when there was only 1 TV channel in Turkey and to have a color TV was really cool...

Well, I felt like these "clever" women when it comes to write about how I transformed this not-very-appreciated t-shirt into something that I like. Eh, yep...i'm as proud as they are ;)

I took the stiches from the bottom line of the yoke. Increased on both sides every row to follow the shape, made some bubbles along the way and there it is!
Once knitted, I sewed the sides trying to be invisible.

new

As weather gets chilly, I couldn't resist more to my itching finger tips.

I saw this veste in Phildar 09 winter catalogue, day-dreamed about it for quite some time, then got new yarn et voila...I found it hard to follow the stich pattern so switched to reverse stockinette stich to be able to work while watching Sopranos ;)

Really enjoyed this project except the never ending seams...

the return

Hello,

It's been almost one year that i haven't put a single word on this blog. Meantime i almost didn't knit. Thanks to those who passed by every once in a while to see if there is anything new.

I still haven't finished my long-grey-cardigan, i dragged it for months... Finally i decided to cheat a bit (moreover i was not even sure if it will end up good that long...) and shortened it. Now there are only the arms to knit and it will be completed. I hope i will show it here soon.

I have a nephew since 22/03. He came to visit us last weekend so it was a good opportunity to knit something else other than my cursed-long-grey-cardigan.
I didn't really think much for a pattern, just casted on and knitted along. The photos are taken at night and in a hurry so they are not very clear. The color was beige and the little sketch was grey with turquoise buttons.

Well, apparently i can't keep my promise on writing soon but have an FO and a WIP to show you.
I'm quite into the cables and leaves at the moment, that's mostly why i chose the below cardigan. It's from the Burda winter 05 catalogue (in some countries the same catalogue is published as Verena).

Lovely pattern.
The yarn i used is Nako export, -they have a problem about not writing the compositions on the label, anyway- it looks like having some silk inside, very nice to touch and fun to knit. However very flashing for any kind of outfit apart from accessories (personal opinion and testified result):

Not that bad...but you know, pfff. Many regrets on not using a plain colour. I knew it. No explanation on why i kept on knitting anyhow.

To skip the bitter taste left from my last FO, started on knitting this beautiful, long cardigan. I'm using Nako export again as yarn and it's made of bamboo -if the saler was not lying, and no i don't think he did-, i like the idea, the touch is not very special, but hey, it's made of bamboo. That makes me like it actually.
Here is my WIP so far:and i love it, for real.

finished: cropped jacket

Here it is, my finished cropped jacket:

click on the photo for more...

Pattern: Phildar winter 06/07 catalogue, no:19
Yarn: Nako export 100% wool
Needles: 5 mm

The button is just for decoration, there are 2 button-pressions (not sure about the way it's called in english..) sewed under it to close the jacket. Apart from the pattern, I added another button-pression ~15 cm under the first one~ to be able to close the front tighter when i want.
To cover the button with the yarn, the pattern was calling for crochet but i don't know how to do it so with some trial and error process, i managed to do it with the sock needless, knitting in round.
Result: not bad at all... (oh ok, i admit that i'm actually thrilled with it :P)

If you wonder the original model, plz follow the link.

back to blogging

Hi again!
It's been so long that i was not here so i'm not quite sure how to start. I'd better show you my finished sweater which was in progress the last time i wrote, there it is:

Pattern from Phildar winter 06/07 catalogue, no:1
Yarn: 100% wool, label: Nako export
Needles: 4 mm

I'm happy with the result but had to add some ribbing (as seen on the photo too) after finishing the sweater since it turned out to be shorter than expected. It would certainly be better to pay more attention to the mesures but anyway...

Lately i finished a cropped jacket from the very same catalogue of Phildar which is washed and left to dry at the moment. I also started to a new project; a cropped cache-coeur with leaf patterns, very fun to do. I will post the details about both of them next time.

The reason why i didn't post a word for ages is that i started to a new job totally different to those i experienced before and my mind was quite busy with it. Now that i got used to the job itself and got less work-load at the moment, i'm happily recovering my old habits including this blog.

See you soon.
